Q. I have never danced before; is this a problem?

A. Even if you have never danced a step in your life, that's no problem! The course is designed to take you through all the basic steps of salsa.

Q. I haven't done any exercise for years; will I be able to cope?

A. Salsa is very low impact, especially at beginner stage, so just requires a clean bill of general health and a basic level of fitness!

Q. What should I wear to classes?

A. You don't need to wear anything specific. For ladies, trousers, jeans or a skirt with a lightweight top are fine, though try to avoid longer length skirts or very flared trousers which may impeed your movement. For guys, anything goes really, and most men are comfortable in jeans/ trousers and a T-shirt/ shirt. Please bear in mind that you may get warm when dancing, so two thin layers are better than one heavier one!

Q. Do I need special shoes for dancing?

A. Once you are settled into your dancing, you may wish to buy dancing shoes, but for the beginning, any smooth-soled shoes should be fine, and leather soled shoes are ideal. Avoid trainers or heavy rubber soles, which may impeed your movement. It is recommended that ladies wear shoes with a small heel. Most importantly, your shoes should be comfortable enough to dance for an hour.

Q. I don't have a partner and will be coming to classes on my own; will this be a problem?

A. Not at all! Salsa is a very sociable activity, and we move on and change partners frequently, so that everyone gets to dance with everyone else during the course of an evening. However, if you come as a couple and prefer to dance together only, this is not a problem!

Q. I am not always able to come every week. Will I be lost in class if I miss a couple of weeks?

A. Although we do recomend weekly attendance for your progression, it's not a problem if you miss a week here and there. We always go over the previous weeks' steps as a refresher, and learn new steps every week, so it is easy to catch-up on a missed week. We are always available after class if you want to go over something specific. Private classes are also available, so please ask if you have specific requirements.
